Description
Midway contains 50 scenarios of naval action the
Pacific Ocean waters
during World War II in 1942. The scenarios cover both historical and
hypothetical engagements as the Japanese try to maintain their
offensive and the U.S. attempts to stop them.
Midway is part of the Second World War at Sea game
system. It
is
comprised of a series of modules that use the same core rules but focus
on different theaters of the war.
Each unit represents a capital ship or a squadron
of
destroyers.
There are two scale maps: operational and tactical. Fleets
move
around on the operational maps until contact is made, and then battle
is resolved on the tactical map. Each operational square
represents 36 miles of terrain or water.
The Second World War at Sea system is vast, with
many modules
available. Each module focuses on a particular theme and
provide
counters, maps and scenarios to play. There are two types of
modules, the core and the supplements. Core games are
complete by
themselves, with everything needed to play. Supplements
expand on
the core modules, bringing new scenarios and unit types to the game,
but require one or more core module to play.
Midway is a core game and complete by itself.
